Alma's ChristmasDiscover the Christmas proposals from 24th of December to 6th of January.

Christmas is all about people; it is about being in the right place with the right people. It is about remembering the excitement you felt as a child and experiencing that thrill again each year.

Christmas is tradition, lights and poetry. It is Alma.

We open the doors to our home at Christmas so that you can experience it with one foot in the hustle and bustle of the streets and another in the tranquillity of our garden.

At the Hotel Alma we have prepared a special Christmas, with gastronomic proposals that are traditional or innovative, depending on the day and the menu.

Suggestions which are inevitably infused with the essence of Barcelona, a city open to the entire world, with vibrant, festively decorated streets, the Santa Llúcia Market and an infinite number of Christmas stalls.

24th of December

Christmas Eve
This is an evening to celebrate with your family or with friends who are now like your family.

We have designed a menu that will make it a special night for your palate: pumpkin cream with winter truffle, sautéed baby squid with Santa Pau beans, Tarragona prawn suquet or roasted deer fillet, are some of the dishes. A festival of flavors from start to finish.

Additionally, we invite you to complete your experience by choosing our Christmas package, that also includes accommodation, Alma breakfast and cocktail at our Bar.

25th of December

Christmas Day
If there is one day on which tradition is an indispensable principle, it is Christmas Day. A day on which you need to feel at home, wherever you may be.

In Catalonia the traditional Christmas menu must include escudella, a rich broth served with large pasta shells, and carn d’olla, the “meat from the pot”, which also has chickpeas and vegetables and is what gives the broth, served separately, its substance. This dish is considered the oldest documented soup in Europe.

We also serve roast chicken from El Prat, a free-range bird with delicate, exquisite meat that has IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) status. For dessert, we offer classic turrones, essential to round off an unforgettable meal.

This is the Christmas we love.

26th of December

Boxing Day
Here in Catalonia we also celebrate on 26th December. Today, Sant Esteve, Saint Stephen’s Day, is one of our most beloved festive days.

Initially, this public holiday responded to the need for people to have enough time to return home on foot the day after Christmas and it was therefore not practical for them to work.

This is the day when we serve the traditional cannelloni stuffed with roast chicken, although our version incorporates an exceptional ingredient: truffle. The main course will be preceded by gourmet appetizers, such as jamón or potera squid with sobrasada from Mallorca, because you have to get to the dessert with the desire to receive it, since chocolate cylinder with hazelnut praline and passion fruit ice cream will close the menu.

The finishing touch to a menu you will enjoy from start to finish.

New Year's Day
Waking up in the Alma on New Year’s Day is the first sign that luck is on your side.

For the first day of the year we have prepared an informal lunch, suitable for all physical and mental states.

Starting with appetizers such as jamón ibérico or Cantabrian anchovies, followed by a sophisticated and healing menu, such as pumpkin cream or beef tenderloin.

Epiphany
This is the day when the festivities come to an end and families gather to eat the typical Roscón de Reyes.

You don’t need to be a child to believe in the Three Wise Men or Reyes Magos de Oriente. Barcelona is complicit with this magical tale, and the Magi tour the city on their floats for over three hours on the eve of 6th of January.

In the morning, in every home people are opening the gifts that have arrived as if by magic.

Before, some appetizers of jamón ibérico or crayfish carpaccio, will give way to the main course: roasted wild sea bass that will make you say goodbye to Christmas with the nostalgia of the one who has enjoyed until the last minute.
